About Garry.

Garry Begg – MLA for Surrey-Guildford.

Garry Begg was elected as the MLA for Surrey-Guildford in May 2017 and re-elected in 2020. In his first term, he served as the Government Caucus Whip.

Garry Begg has been involved in progressive law enforcement leadership with the RCMP for nearly 40 years. He has years of experience serving Surrey’s diverse communities and has a deep understanding of the issues facing the residents in Surrey-Guildford.

As District Commander, Watch Commander, and Operations Support Officer with the Surrey RCMP, Garry worked with government, businesses, community groups and families across the city to help make Surrey a safer and more inclusive place for everyone.

He entered politics as a means of continuing his public service, with the goal of tackling crime, improving hospital care, getting students out of portables and into real classrooms and addressing the transportation needs of Surrey and the region South of the Fraser.

Garry is married to Val and has two adult children and two grandchildren.
